There are 4 different standards of data centers, classified by the Uptime Institute as Tier 1 to Tier systems. 4. Tier 1 data centers have basic infrastructure with no redundancy, Tier 2 adds up fault tolerance with redundant power and cooling, Tier 3 provides high availability with multiple redundant Tier 4 offers the highest reliability with fully redundant, fault-tolerant infrastructure.
