Let's Count Together
Counting helps us know how many things there are. Today we will count from 1 to 5.
Try this: Put 5 pencils on the table. Point to each pencil and say the numbers out loud: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Number Names
- 1 — one
- 2 — two
- 3 — three
- 4 — four
- 5 — five
One-to-One Counting
Touch each object once as you count. Touching one object and saying one number is called one-to-one counting. The last number you say tells you how many there are.
Remember: Always start counting from the number 1 and do not skip any object.
Practice
Count these groups aloud: 3 balls, 5 fingers, 2 cups, 4 shoes. Then write the numbers in your notebook.
