Word Families
Words belong to families. Today we learn three: nouns, verbs and adjectives.
- A noun names a person, place or thing — teacher, Lagos, book.
- A verb is an action word — run, jump, read.
- An adjective describes a noun — big, red, tall.
Spot Them!
In the sentence "The big dog runs fast": dog is a noun, big is an adjective, runs is a verb, and fast tells us how it runs.
