Building Sentences
A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought. Every sentence must have a subject (who or what) and a predicate (what the subject does).
Parts of a Sentence

Examples
- The cat sleeps on the mat. (Subject + Verb + Place)
- Mary reads a book. (Subject + Verb + Object)
- It is raining. (Subject + Verb)
⚠️ Common Mistake
"Ran to the store" is NOT a complete sentence because it has no subject. Who ran? Write: "John ran to the store."
Punctuation
- Period (.) — for statements: "She is happy."
- Question mark (?) — for questions: "Where are you going?"
- Exclamation mark (!) — for strong feelings: "What a beautiful day!"
