Mean, Median, and Mode
Mean (Average)
Add all values and divide by the count:
$\text{Mean} = \frac{\text{Sum of all values}}{\text{Number of values}}$
Example: Data set: 4, 7, 9, 10, 15
Mean = $\frac{4+7+9+10+15}{5} = \frac{45}{5} = 9$
Median (Middle Value)
Arrange in order and find the middle value.
Odd count: 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 → Median = 7
Even count: 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 → Median = $\frac{5+6}{2} = 5.5$
Mode (Most Frequent)
The value that appears most often.
Data: 2, 3, 3, 5, 7, 3, 8 → Mode = 3
⚠️ Remember
A data set can have no mode, one mode, or multiple modes.
